Dr. Matthew Banks has been providing therapeutic and cosmetic Botox treatments to his patients since the Fall of 2016.
His interest in Botox started back in 2013 during his Navy residency when he attended a Botulinum neurotoxin lecture. Amazed at the many uses and applications that Botox provided for dentistry, let alone the cosmetic benefits, he eventually was able to learn safe anatomy and injection techniques during a live participation Botox course from the Facial Anatomy for Comprehensive Esthetic Seminars (FACES) in July 2016, where he was trained in the use of Allergan’s Botox product line.
He learned how to supplement Botox with dermal fillers the following summer during another live participation course from FACES in July 2017. As a former Navy dentist, the main Botox application was for the treatment of Orofacial Pain, with emphasis on Temporal Mandibular Joint Disorder (TMD), but he was trained and credentialed in the management and injection techniques for Chronic Migraine treatments at Naval Hospital Pensacola in November 2019. Since retiring and focusing on private practice, Dr. Banks has been learning how to adjunct solid dermal fillers with Botox treatments from the American Academy of Facial Esthetics (AAFE).
